Enjoyed by Andy & Jeff, this 8 day tour takes you to Prague and Budapest which are two of Europe’s most enchanting cities, each exuding a timeless romance that feels almost dreamlike.

Prague, the "City of a Hundred Spires," is a fairytale woven in cobblestone streets and Gothic silhouettes. The Prague Castle, perched above the city, whispers stories of centuries past, while the Old Town’s hidden alleys lead to intimate cafés where candlelight flickers against ancient stone walls.

Budapest, the "Pearl of the Danube," is a city where one can marvel at the grandeur of Buda Castle as well as enjoy the soothing waters of the Széchenyi thermal baths. One can sail along the Danube as the Parliament Building glows like a beacon of elegance, its reflection dancing on the water’s surface.

Both cities are poetry in architecture, music, and moonlight—perfect for those who long to lose themselves in beauty, history, and the magic of a European night.

The Experience!

This was our first Rick Steves' Tour and we loved it! These were two cities that we wanted to see for not only their beauty and culture but because we each have ancestors from the area. The Rick Steves' Tour experience was well thought out and you knew from the start it was cultivated by careful consideration. We loved the perfect balance of structured tours and free time. We loved the friendly, knowledgable, caring, and experienced guides. We loved the size of the group where you get to know each other but aren't on top of each other. We loved the balance of group meals/experiences to recommendations of places to try on your own. We loved the location of our hotels which were right in the mix of things. The tour was top notch!

Tour and Explore

With just the right amount of mix, you get to see all the highlights with plenty of time to explore on your own. Tours include the Prague Castle, Velvet Revolution tour, Pest Walking tour and the Heroe's Square Walking tour. You'll also enjoy St. Vitus Cathedral, Old Town, the Jewish Museum, Spanish Synagogue, Jewish Quarter, Buda Castle district and the Great Market Hall. The knowledgable guides shared many of their own personal stories which made you feel even more immersed. There is ample time to self explore some recommended additional sites or relax in preperation for the next organized event!

Culture

Experiencing the culture is one of our goals when traveling. This tour allows plenty of that, again both structured and on your own. This can vary from a private performance at the Opera House to learning first hand what is was like during the Velvet Revolution. Take advantage of this!

Danube River Cruise

One of our highlights was the beautiful evening Danube River cruise! We had some rain and dramatic lightning during our cruise but that didn't keep anyone from enjoying the beauty!

Food

You can't go to Europe without enjoying the food. That's the case in Prague and Budapest as well! This tour includes all your breakfasts and 4 other meals as well as a few surprises like beer tastings and local snacks. A highlight for us was the Hungarian cooking class at chefparade where we were hands on in preparing our own scrumptious lunch! And of ocourse you can explore on your own or go to one of the recommended eateries. A great tour for Foodies!
